Intensive Outpatient Rehabilitation Description with Definitions
Outpatient rehab is an effective drug addiction treatment option. It provides a cost-effective alternative to inpatient drug rehab centers, which are costly and not always eligible for coverage by insurance.
It also places a stronger emphasis on sober living, as people attending outpatient drug addiction treatment centers are still able to maintain jobs, attend school, and spend time at home with their families.
As such, outpatient treatment helps people working through recovery manage the unique struggles they face in not just maintaining sobriety, but in repairing the damage their addiction has caused in their lives.
A comprehensive approach to treatment that includes traditional therapy models while also emphasizing personal responsibility for healing enables those dealing with alcohol addiction and/or substance abuse to reclaim their lives.
The MiBoSpi Recovery IOP Described
MiBoSpi offers two outpatient rehab programs. Our intensive outpatient program is specifically designed for those who are transitioning from inpatient residential addiction treatment or who are in the early stages of addiction.
Our program focuses on healing the person, treating everyone who partakes in our program with dignity and respect, acknowledging their unique struggle, and working to provide them with the highest level of individualized care so they can live a successful life of sobriety.
Intensive Outpatient Rehab
Intensive outpatient rehab is an important part of the recovery process, providing continued care for those suffering from alcohol or substance abuse . Unlike inpatient residential treatment, outpatient rehab is designed for individuals who are acclimating back into their everyday lives while focusing on the continued care that is essential for long-term recovery.
These alcohol and drug rehab centers provide continued social, psychological, and emotional support to assist individuals with incorporating sober living skills into their lives. In this way, individuals can maintain their employment, continue to attend school, and enjoy quality time with their loved ones while still having consistent access to the intense level of alcohol and drug addiction treatment necessary for them to achieve long-term sobriety.
Integrated Alcohol and Drug Addiction Treatment
At MiBoSpi, intensive outpatient rehab programs meet three times each week, for a total of ten hours, providing effective and integrated alcohol and drug addiction treatment to help individuals embrace a sober lifestyle. Our focus is on preparing individuals to successfully and realistically maintain sobriety while living the best life possible for them.
Treatment involves a combination of group and individual therapy, as well as a variety of therapies focused on encouraging healing from within.
Our intensive outpatient rehab program includes the following therapies:

Our comprehensive treatment addresses mind, body, and spirit to bring wholeness and increase awareness of personal strength. That total person approach enables our intensive outpatient addiction treatment to better meet individual needs and encourage long-term recovery because we treat the person, not the disease.
Getting Treatment at an Outpatient Rehab CenterOutpatient rehab is an effective form of alcohol addiction and drug addiction treatment, with strong scientifically backed supporting evidence reaching back to the 1980’s .
Multiple studies have confirmed that there is no difference in efficacy when comparing inpatient and outpatient addiction treatment. Instead, these studies have shown that what makes the difference in achieving successful long-term recovery is the duration of treatment (how much time that individual consistently spent participating in therapy,) the level of social support that individual had, and whether the therapy was focused on treating the person as just another addict or if it approached each person as an individual with a unique addiction and, thus, unique needs for treating their addiction and attaining sobriety.
A Cost-Effective Alternative
Getting treatment at an outpatient drug rehab center is also considerably more cost-effective than inpatient care. This is an important point to keep in mind, considering many individuals are actively trying to rebuild their lives and repair their families as a result of their addiction. This makes outpatient care more accessible.
The intensive outpatient program at MiBoSpi is offered three times each week, for a total of ten hours of treatment. This provides a consistent level of support to help individuals manage their addiction and achieve recovery, while still focusing on building a strong and successful everyday life.
Our outpatient care also includes family therapy and life skills building to further support success out in the real world. Each of our therapies is founded upon the idea of supporting real people to live real lives.
We focus on providing individualized treatment, designed to provide the most effective long-term approach regardless of whether the individual is dealing with alcohol or drug addiction. And supporting that individual in repairing and reclaiming the life they had before addiction plays a big part in that.
Choosing Outpatient vs Inpatient Drug Addiction Treatment
In choosing outpatient vs inpatient drug addiction treatment, it’s important for the individual to objectively look at where they are in the recovery process.
Outpatient rehab is most effectively suited for individuals who are coming out of an inpatient or residential addiction treatment or who are working closely with a medical provider for medication-assisted treatment for their drug addiction.
Outpatient rehab does not provide detoxification. This is a form of a treatment where someone actively using drugs is assisted in safely dealing with their withdrawal symptoms through the use of carefully administered medications that activate the same centers of the brain as activated by the drugs that person is addicted to while reducing cravings for that drug. This is a crucial part of addiction treatment as an abstinence alone approach can prove deadly for opiate addiction .
Continued Addiction Treatment
For individual’s who do not require such intensive medical intervention as part of their addiction treatment, an outpatient drug rehab center can provide results even for individuals who have experienced multiple relapses. Having access to a strong support network is essential for individuals to maintain sobriety.
Outpatient addiction treatment provides this by meeting multiple times each week, offering stability in a life that can otherwise feel shaky and chaotic as an individual works to maintain employment and repair relationships while implementing their sober living skills.
Outpatient rehab is also an effective way to continue treatment for those who are transitioning out of inpatient treatment. The intensive outpatient rehab program at MiBoSpi offers continued addiction care to help individuals adjust to life in the real world, while still providing strong social and therapeutic support.
Our emphasis on treating the person -by focusing on their mind, body, and spirit- affords a higher level of care that encourages that individual to not just take responsibility for their addiction, but to take responsibility for their healing and recovery, too.
MiBoSpi’s Unique ApproachDrug addiction treatment reaches new levels through MiBoSpi’s unique approach. Many outpatient rehab centers are based upon ideological models, such as the 12 steps model, despite all scientific and medical evidence showing that these “therapies” are ineffective and provide inconsistent results.
This is largely because of the approach they take to treating addiction. Many of these treatments models continue to ignore all medical advice, focusing on imbalanced treatment that fosters continued dependency -shifting that dependency from alcohol or drugs and onto membership in that group.
These models frequently also disempower the individual, encouraging them to take the “blame” for their addiction while placing hope of recovery outside the individual -making it harder (if not impossible) to achieve through their model.
There is no one cut and clear treatment for addiction, just as there is no one definitive reason why someone will become addicted to alcohol and/or substances. Instead, there is only the individual and the unique life that they live.
Each person comes to addiction through specific events and situations and each abuse alcohol or substances in unique ways. This cannot be ignored in providing effective treatment because each case of addiction is unique.
This is part of the foundational philosophy of MiBoSpi, that it is only through treating the individual with respect, and acknowledging the journey they are on and that led to their addiction, that long-term recovery can be achieved. As such, we base our treatment on what each individual needs, tailoring therapies and approaches to fulfill those unique needs.
Treatment at our drug rehab center also focuses on strengthening and empowering the individual. We place responsibility for each individual’s healing in their own hands, supporting them to reclaim their strength and to embrace a life of sobriety and promise.
Through therapies designed to lift and nourish the mind, body, and spirit, we provide continued addiction treatment while supporting every person’s right to choose and live their life however they desire. At MiBoSpi, we treat people with names, families, and hopes for the future -not faceless diseases.
Treat the Person Not the Disease
Through an individualized approach to drug addiction treatment, MiBoSpi’s outpatient rehab provides a different experience for every individual who undergoes our care.
It isn’t enough to simply treat the body and the emotions for addiction, as this can overlook the very causes of that person’s addiction in the first place. Rather, we place a strong emphasis on treating the mind, body, and spirit; treating all levels of being to encourage greater depths of healing.
Our therapies include traditional forms of therapy for addiction, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, group therapy, and sober coaching. But we supplement these with therapies focused on strengthening mind, body, and spirit to empower the individual and encourage them to heal on all levels.
In addition to our traditional addiction therapies, we offer physical fitness training, pranasana yoga, kundalini energy work, and float therapy. These therapies support traditional therapies by integrating a strong holistic perspective that embraces the individual within the context of their life, addressing their unique struggles and needs through acknowledgment and support.
Treating the Mind, Body, & Spirit
Mind, Body, and Spirit: Treating the Whole Person Our team of therapists come from diverse backgrounds and allow us to provide a comprehensive approach to addiction treatment that encourages healing from within. This breadth of therapeutic treatments supports the recovery process by addressing the whole person, rather than approaching their addiction as a separate part of their lives.
Alcohol addiction and substance abuse are complicated and messy, leaving no part of an individual’s life untouched. This makes treating the addiction alone -while ignoring the damage done to that person’s spiritual health and to the relationships in their life- ineffective. Our goal for each of our clients is a long-term recovery, we work towards this by treating the whole person: mind, body, and spirit.
Why Outpatient Rehab is A More Affordable Option

It allows the individual to maintain a job, attend school, and to enjoy personal relationships with family and friends. This allows one to focus on rebuilding their life and to further gain the benefit of a strong support system that is so crucial to long-term recovery. This makes the intensive outpatient rehab program at MiBoSpi ideal for individuals who are transitioning from inpatient residential addiction treatment or who are in the early stages of addiction and need help.
Intensive outpatient rehab provides continued addiction treatment through traditional and alternative therapies. MiBoSpi’s outpatient program meets three nights each week, for a total of ten hours of comprehensive therapeutic treatment.
Therapies include traditional models, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, group therapy, family therapy, and sober coaching, as well innovative therapies to support and encourage healing on all levels: mind, body, and spirit. These therapies include float therapy (sensory deprivation,) kundalini energy work, pranasana yoga, physical fitness, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR.)
